Scarecrow Rules:

1. Each entrant will be assigned a specific location along the south/front loops of the trail. Entrants will be notified by email of their assigned locations on September 30.

2. FHP will erect a 4 ft. metal post for your use to anchor your display. No other ground disturbance is allowed without permission. If your display does not require the anchor post please let us know.

3. The assigned space around the metal post is 10 ft. x 10 ft. and all decorations must be placed within this area. No large items, such as hay bales, should be placed on the ground unless supported by risers that allow air and light underneath them. Care must be taken not to damage or disturb the grass.

4. Displays may only be lit using solar lighting or small battery powered lights. Moving parts or noises are not allowed without special permission. No dangerous materials, sharp edges, or unstable construction is allowed. Tents can only be used for sun/rain protection during installation but must be promptly removed.

5. Participants are encouraged to erect a sign or poster (no larger than 2 ft x 2 ft) to identify themselves and/or promote their business or organization.

6. Scarecrow displays must be constructed of materials capable of withstanding October weather conditions and remaining intact until the removal dates. Displays which become noticeably damaged or unsightly must be immediately repaired or they will be removed from the area and withdrawn from the competition.

7.This event is intended to be a safe and fun, family-oriented event suitable for viewing by children. As such, entries depicting or promoting credible violence, hate, discrimination, nudity or profanity are not acceptable. In addition, political messaging or social issue commentary is prohibited. Also remember, this is not a Halloween event - displays should have scarecrows.

8. FHP reserves the right to remove or insist on the removal of any display which, at the discretion of the FHP Board of Directors, does not comply with all of these rules.
